It will be a great day for this centre, I hope,

when through connection is established with Canton (and Hongkong) but I hope you fully realize that the

railway which will be provided in the near future will

fall very far short of a properly equipped line, even

as understeed in China.

of course, if the line is a financial success,

it can be rapidly improved out of revenue, if that

revenue is put to the proper use, but that is the

exception in this part of the world, where a very

prosperous railway is merely used as a mileh cow.
